TOPM is gearing up for a Rakudo Perl 6 Hackathon this Saturday. The project is called Sponge Six and has a source code repository on GitHub at http://github.com/asciiville/sponge-six.

Sponge Six will be an Internet content aggregator pulling from sources such as Twitter APIs and other sources of interest [namely Perl]. The foundation architecture will be comprised of mod_parrot and SQLite3 using pre-DBDI for the backend processing and may leverage other Perl 6 projects such as a JSON parser, and hopefully from project efforts in the concurrency arena for scheduling purposes.

The UI will likely consist of current JavaScript frameworks such as jQuery and possibly Joose as well.

The goal is to code SS in as much Rakudo Perl 6 as possible and only falling back to Parrot or Perl 5 where deemed absolutely necessary.
